Angela Project
The “ANGELA” project is part of the European Clean Sky 2 Fast-Rotorcraft Research Programme, with the aim of developing, producing, testing and qualifying innovative landing gear to be integrated into Airbus’ high-speed rotorcraft prototype called LifeRCraft (RACER). Mare Group has developed a new methodology to support the design of landing gear using a full isostatic FEM model equivalent to the real one.
With this approach, the team was able to achieve the following goals:
- reduce the weight of the trolley by up to 15%;
- reduce construction costs by 20%;
- reduce delivery times by 20%;
- reduce material waste by at least 15%;
- save at least 20% of operating costs.
“Angela” fits into the Green Economy field, due to the significant weight savings achieved thanks to the use of composite materials and additive manufacturing.
