Mare Group’s “Sais” project is part of the European research and development programme Clean Sky 2, established to launch public-private partnerships between the European Commission and the European aerospace industry for the development of innovative aircraft with reduced environmental impact.

The SAIS project responds to a need of Leonardo Helicopter Division regarding the study and definition of the specifications of new-generation flight controls for tiltrotor aircraft.

The goal of the project is to design, develop, implement, and qualify a new flight control architecture, ergonomically designed and featuring logical controls, diagnostic capabilities, and, most importantly, haptic sensor technology.
