Risk analysis and crowd modelling of port terminals: the BIM model and digital twin of the Port of Genoa
(Risk analysis and crowd modelling of port terminals)
ANCHOR developed the BIM model and the digital twin of the Port of Genoa, supporting the design and management of port buildings and infrastructures. The digital twin provides an intuitive 3D visualisation of the study area, with risk levels highlighted through colour scales and interactive elements that provide additional information.
The model is continuously updated in real time with data collected from sensors distributed throughout the area, giving a dynamic and up-to-date representation of the port environment. The simulation of the movement of a large number of people (crowd modelling) identifies the escape routes of public areas, starting from the ferry terminals.
The project was carried out by La SIA, a company merged into Mare Group in December 2025, with the START 4.0 Competence Centre, whose equipment was used for the surveys in the port.
